A family history: the Carons' at lac Mercier
8 October 2023Euclide Caron (Montreal) married Catherine Charbonneau (la Conception) and had 5 children:
- Robert, architect ( m. Marguerite Véronneau)
- Fernand, engineer (m. Alice Ostiguy)
- Denise, painter (m. Paul Poisson)
- Gérard, graphic designer (m. Françoise Couillard)
- Jeanine, costume designer for Radio-Canada and various theatres in Montreal (m. Patrick Peuvion)
Euclide and Catherine built a cottage on Lac Vézeau in La Conception (on one of the lots on the land of Catherine’s brother, Léon Charbonneau). Catherine still has relatives in La Conception and Mont-Tremblant (the Charbonneau family, the Clément family on the banks of Rivière Rouge, the Letendre family in the village of Mont-Tremblant who owns the general market, the Rabellino family at Lac Moore).
Later, Denise and Paul bought a log cabin at Lac Mercier, named “le Château du Village” on Chemin Harrison. The latter was sold to Mrs. Shallow, who had it demolished to rebuild herself. It is now owned by his daughter Jennifer Shallow and Todd Tackaberry.
Gérard will have a chalet built for which Robert will draw up the plans on the Impasse-des-Perdix. The latter was sold to the Lagendyk family.
Jeanine had a Canadian house built on her land in Impasse-des-Perdrix next to her brother Gérard, resulting from the dismantling of 2 houses she owned.
Robert and Marguerite built a cottage according to Robert’s plans on the Chemin des Boisés. Her daughter France Caron is now the owner with her husband André Roy.
For his part, Fernand became the owner of the family cottage at Lac Vézeau. His daughter Micheline and her husband Dr. Claude Phaneuf built a cottage on Lac Mercier next to Marcel Desjardins. This chalet has been demolished and replaced.
Robert, who loved fishing, took a government program to stock Lac Mercier with trouts a few times.
